Reflections of the New Forest – an exhibition by Linda Patterson

1:00pm GMT, Friday, 26 February 2010

September 2009 saw local artist and Vice Chairman of CADArts, Linda Patterson, show a collection of work called ‘Reflections of the New Forest’.

Set in the heart of the New Forest at the aptly named New Forest Centre in Lyndhurst, the exhibition drew a varied audience.

In her own words, Linda said her paintings are a personal take on the Forest: “I doubt whether you’ll find one of these scenes if you go out and look, as it’s what I’ve seen and what I capture in my mind and then paint later. It just grows on the canvas.”

Linda used a mixture of mediums to create her extensive display, including pastels and acrylics, but mostly her paintings were oil-based, which took weeks or sometimes months to complete.

“I’ve just tried to capture different elements,” Linda added.

Linda had two years to plan her exhibition but said creating her collection took the best part of a year.

Linda’s next project takes on a floral theme as she participates in an annual exhibition at Westminster Central Hall in London as part of her membership of the Society of Botanical Artists.
