ICM teams race in charity kart event
On 27 June 2009, staff from the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM) took part in a charity Kart Race event at Wessex Raceway on the Wiltshire/Hampshire border.
The event was organised by Richard Irvine of Westover Landrover, in conjunction with Poole-based Royal Marines, and was put together to raise money for Help for Heroes – a charity formed to help those who have been wounded in Britain’s current conflicts.

13 teams of four from a variety of organisations took part in the event, with Christchurch Tyre Company taking first place, followed by Gumball (Westover Landrover sales staff) and Who Cares Wins (Royal Marines), taking second and third respectively. ICM sponsored two teams to take part in the race, which involved two hours of endurance driving.
On the night, over £2,000 was raised through driver’s entry fees, donations, raffle ticket sales and fines that were imposed on the drivers for breaking track rules.
Mr Irvine was delighted with the evening’s success: “We are so happy everyone had a good time and wish to thank them all for their support. The event raised £2,000, which is a great effort for an evening’s racing.”
