ICM takes to the sky
ICM is sponsoring the training of one of its newest employees, Technical Development Manager Peter Rounce, as he furthers his competitive flying career piloting one-seater planes.
Later this year, Peter will attend a two-week training camp to progress his aerobatic skills. ICM is sponsoring the course, which will involve Peter embarking on two to three flights every day while an instructor watches from the ground.
ICM’s Global Communications team enjoyed a scenic flight over the southern county of Dorset and across the English Channel towards the Isle of Wight, to find out more about what piloting a plane is really like.
It took Peter six months to get his pilot’s license, and now he has been flying for five years, although he experienced his first flight in east Africa when he was just nine years old. His plane is a single-seater, top of the range Pitts Special, ideal for aerobatics because of its strength, power and large control surfaces.
Peter is delighted that ICM is sponsoring a two-week aerobatic course for him: “My aim at the moment is to compete internationally – to compete in aerobatics with the national British team. Hopefully that’ll be possible in two to three years time depending on the training I receive.”
